Ladies, did you know that Africa and Asia or any other continent or country aren’t the only mission fields out there? Yes, Jesus called us to be His witnesses to all nations and to the uttermost parts of the world, and He also commanded us to advance His Kingdom in our own backyards! That means our own American church is also one of our mission fields! I know sometimes we get frustrated with church, whether it’s due to people legitimately hurting and wounding us, not seeing eye-to-eye with the way leadership does things, or interpretations and applications of Scripture we just don’t agree with. But believe it or not, the church is still a place where people go to look for God. I know this is true because that’s my story. I was a young woman caught in a horrific cycle of rededication, stagnation, rebellion, guilt, rededication…I went to church because it was the only thing I knew how to do to find God. But, thank God, one day there was a woman there who was looking for a woman looking for God. She found me and taught me how to pursue Jesus through genuine repentance, prayer, consumption of God’s Word, submission, love and discipleship. And now, I want to spend the rest of my life doing what she did for me – going into my church and looking for a woman looking for God. There are hungry women in my church, and there are hungry women in yours too, just waiting for you to find them. But you won’t find them unless you see your church as a mission field and GO! That’s how we work the mission fields that are white with harvest in our own backyard. Look for a woman looking for God. Pray for God to show you who they are. Engage women in conversation with a willingness to do for them what’s been done for you. Work your mission field!
