GOD’S LOVE LANGUAGE IS OBEDIENCE. So, how do you show the King of all creation that you love him? Obedience! Loving God requires keeping His commandments, ladies, and His commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). So, if we have an obedience problem, we have a love problem. Ouch. Obedience is the outward expression of an internal reality, which means our love for God is not just about what we “feel” about God. As disciples of Jesus Christ, God is calling us to KNOW the Father, BECOME like the Son, and PARTICIPATE in the work of the Spirit…regardless of how we feel. Eugene Peterson says that “Feelings are great liars….[and so] the Bible wastes very little time on the way we feel.” Jesus himself made it painfully clear that mere feelings and belief in His name does not make one a Christian when He said, “Not everyone who calls out to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter” (Matthew 15:7). From God’s vantage point, obedience is actually doing what Jesus said, not just reading about it or agreeing with it, but living it! So, how’s your love showing up for the King of all creation? Does the world around you see a lifestyle of discipleship, meaning the King has unrestricted access to every area of your life? Do they see the ongoing reality of the resurrection, that you are progressively dying to sin because of what Jesus did for us? Are you taking on the supernatural nature of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit and living a new life? Is the cry of your heart, “Your Kingdom come and Your will be done” in the mountain highs and valley lows of your life? Ladies, this is what biblical love looks like! It’s all about living God’s truth, obediently – regardless. We need a renewing of the mind through an ongoing digestion in the Word of God to live a new way because the “more” that God wants to do in and through you is NOT going to happen by relying on the same old thinking and same old “feelings.” The response is the same regardless of what He’s asking you to pick up or lay down. OBEDIENCE! So, if you love God, you will obey God! It’s just that simple.
